"How Mobile Apps Led Me to Microcontrollers" by Chris Riesgo

500 Interstate Blvd S
Nashville, TN 37210 (map)

Let's face it, solderless breadboards are just awful. Whether you're building a

Small electronics and hardware fascinate me. Life as a .NET mobile developer is incredible, but if you’re anything like me, you still want to work with your hands from time-to-time. I’ve wanted to tinker with Raspberry Pi and Arduino for ages, but never knew where to start or how to apply the skills I have. The answer was right in front of me!

Let me share how my love for building mobile apps opened up the world of microcontrollers. You’ll see how I got started working with my first Arduino board, and some of the incredibly fun and useful ways you can interact with microcontrollers from your own mobile apps. I’ll even bring hardware to show it in action! I hope to inspire new projects for you, your family, or your job. I’m not a microcontroller maker wizard, but come hang with us if you want to learn how to take your .NET skills to start hacking against hardware.

Chris has spent the last four years building professional apps on the Xamarin platform. He’s a Microsoft MVP and Xamarin MVP with more than a decade of .NET experience developing enterprise applications. Chris leads the mobile team at LeanKit as Mobile Architect. In his spare time, he blogs about Xamarin, tinkers, organizes the Nashville Mobile .NET Developers Group, and speaks about his passions wherever he can.

We'll begin the meeting as always with show & tell. So, bring what you've been working on and tell everyone about it.

Need help with your project? Bring it and ask for help.

HELP! We've lost our food sponsor and need to find a new one ASAP. We have a little cash to cover food this month if we have to but in order for that to continue we'll need to find a new sponsor. Please talk to your employers or companies that you work with and see if they might be interested in helping us keep you fully fueled. If you have any ideas for sponsors and would like me to inquire for you, please send an email to [masked]. Additionally, if you would like to make a donation to help cover costs you can do so via PayPal to my same email address or through the MeetUp donations feature. We'll also put out a bucket for donations during the meeting. THANKS!

Food & drinks will be served at 6PM. Show & Tell and the presentation will start no later than 6:30.

Come join the fun and invite your friends!
