Kotlin on Android, with Sean Beach

10 Music Square E
Nashville, TN 37203, us (map)

The Kotlin programming language is now a "first class" language for the Android platform, supported in the primary IDE, Android Studio.  Kotlin makes some things very easy, and some things are different -- in Kotlin, there are no raw types, arrays in Kotlin are invariant, and Kotlin does not have checked exceptions.  The list of differences is actually vast, meaning that there will be a learning curve for developers migrating from other languages.

Sean Beach will explain some of these differences, and will dive into the application development cycle in Kotlin.

Nashville Mobile Developers usually meets monthly on the last Tuesday of the month.  We meet to discuss innovations in mobile development, and will generally have someone from a local company who's got something awesome to show off.
