April Spring Mixer: Design Jam w/ Nashville UX!
TechnologyAdvice

Hey! We're doing another collab, this time it's a mixer with the people of the Nashville UX meetup.

In the spirit of past mixers, we're going to get together to holler at each other about the issues, learn about one another's crafts and professions, and drink beer. Sticky notes, white boards, and beer provided.

We'll do a quick info session to contextualize our time together and illuminate some interesting problem domains. Then we'll start digging in to different techniques for piecing apart a problem using systemic design techniques (digging in optional, you can also just chill and chat.)

This is a great chance for you to collaborate in cross-functional teams, working with nerds, marketers, designers, product people, and domain experts. And have free booze.

Please register for this event at our Eventbrite page, we are capping attendance at 60 people.

Agenda
1:00pm - 1:30 > Drinks, Snacks, Networking

1:30 - 2:00 > Introductions & Context Setting

2:00 - 4:30 > Design Jam (we'll cluster around whiteboards and thoughtfully dissect problems/issues around transparency and data access in gov't)

4:30 - 5:00> Closing Remarks, Additional Networking

Discussion & Mixer: What happens when the government hides its data?
Tech Hill Commons

Cynthia Villacis, Director of Polling at icitizen

Cynthia Villacis, Director of Polling at icitizen

Hey! Things continue to get weird. When you get a second, try and access http://data.whitehouse.gov. It was emptied of all data sets earlier this year, and now the domain itself is inaccessible.

So we're going to talk about it! Join us, the Online News Association, and the Society of Professional Journalists for an evening of conversation and mingling at Tech Hill Commons. We'll host a panel discussion featuring Robyn Mace, CDO of Nashville , and others (TBA). Reception to follow. We'll have a cooler full of beer and a bunch of those little Milano cookies. You know? The chocolate shortbread ones?

We'll try and cover three main topics:

What does the fed hiding its data imply for lower levels of government and the way they make decisions about transparency?
What kind of effects can we expect to see cascade down across government and non profits?
What do we do now?

Panelists

Robyn Mace, CDO of the City

Cynthia Villacis, Director of Polling at icitizen

More to come!

Doors at 5:30pm, content at 6pm, mixer at 7pm.

Thanks to our venue hosts at the Nashville Tech Council and our co-hosts at the ONA.

Come hang out!
